Look at me! I'm swimming!
Jun. 19th, 2005 10:23 pmThis afternoon for Father's Day we took the girls out to a park. I was a little worried because it was pretty warm in the sun and of course they don't tolerate the heat at all. But we managed to stay mostly in the shade, and there were two creeks and a duck pond to sit near where the air was cooler. We had them on short leashes while they explored the steep-ish creek banks. Kaylee drank a little water and then took it into her tiny noggin to plunge in. Now this creek couldn't be more than five feet across at most and maybe six inches deep, but mind you she is a *very* small animal and not much of a match for the miniature current. I never let go of the leash and she floated maybe about four feet before I fished her out. I couldn't help but think of the story in which Pooh et al are on an Expotition to find the North Pole, and Roo falls in the creek and is mildly swept away. Of course, he informs everybody in earshot that, look at me! I'm swimming! Did you see what I was doing? That was called swimming! Kaylee has an expressive face, and did I detect just a hint of satisfaction?
They are completely zonked, poor little mites, and have been asleep since we got home eight hours ago.

Date: 2005-06-21 05:52 am (UTC)We'll figure out an opportunity for an outing, but be forewarned, it will be exceedingly leisurely!
*It just occurred to me that you might have some small experience with this yourself!
