Just zooming past...
Sep. 15th, 2004 10:07 pm...to do a quick update. We are *mad* busy and I have not taken the time to post. Tonight we went to a social/Court event at our local SCA shire. We haven't been much involved in the past year or so, but we absolutely had to go tonight because *two* of our dear friends received awards tonight! Brian received his AoA (Award of Arms--he gets to be called "Lord" now) and Tim received a very rare and prestigious Kingdom-level award called Hasta Leonis for his contribution to war. We are thrilled to pieces for both of them and are so glad we could be there to share this with them. This weekend is Autumn War, so we will day-trip on Saturday even though S is not fighting this year. Look for us in the humongous Clan Carn encampment with the towers shooting flames into the sky.
Work is going well, if extremely busy.
Last weekend we participated in S & J's post-move yard sale. The many hours of genial companionship made up for the fact that I personally sold only TWO ITEMS for a total of $3. Then I bought something from another seller for $1 and chipped in $5 for pizza, leaving me $3 in the hole for the day. Jeezy Creezy, I do not have the hang of this yard sale thing at all. That night we went to see "Hero," and since many other people have reviewed it with much greater skill than I can, I will just say it was gorgeous and we really enjoyed it.
Sunday I finally had the delight of spending some time with PMB. There was supposed to be a Seagoth dress-up outing to see "Vanity Fair," but the only attendees were the two of us and one other person! How lame is that? What happened to all the people who said they would come? Well, the hell with them--we had a great time anyway. The movie was very entertaining, if pretty darn long. Afterward we had a long, leisurely dinner with some very thoughtful conversation. I thoroughly enjoyed this weekend of fun and companionship! If only we could find a way to make a career out of this. Because I'm telling you, work seriously cuts into my social time.
Note to Chris: That is EXCELLENT news about the book! I could say many snarky things that rhyme with "it's about damn time" but I will refrain.
I owe emails and info to a ton of people and I feel like I am dropping the ball here. But I am going to go finish a couple of chores and then fall exhausted into bed. So I beg your patience for a while longer!
