Death to the quizmakers!
Apr. 8th, 2004 11:05 pmA public service announcement:
Some recently popular quiz going around on LJ is extremely damaging. I'm not sure what flavor of vandalism it is (virus? Trojan horse? not up on the exact term) but trust me, you do not want to have it happen to your machine. My friend Skarrin got nailed and so did I within 24 hours--but we didn't take the same quiz, to my knowledge. So I will never take another LJ quiz again, and you do so at your own risk.
We're running several different spyware-type programs right now and are up to 156 assorted registry hacks, new programs, IE setting hacks, etc. However, it looks like we'll end up backing up critical files and reformat the hard drive and start again--which we planned to do on my FrankenPC anyway but without the added goad of vandalism.
Makes me want to slap somebody into the middle of next week.
