Thanks to somebody who shall remain nameless but who knows perfectly well who she is, I had to spend my lunch hour (and all my discretionary income, such as it is) on acquiring all the Nancy Atherton books (except for the latest hardback).

Hmph.

They are nice, aren't they? Like having a really sweet (rich) aunt who invites you over for tea a lot.

I like to think I played my part in this, as well, since I mentioned here weeks ago that the lastest one was out.

No! No Scooby Snax for you!

This is all PMB's fault. I didn't even know who Nancy Atherton was. I forget how we got on the topic, but PMB asked if I had read them, and then she kindly handed them over. But I shall have my revenge, possibly with all the other Elizabeth Peters mysteries, or perhaps Alisa Craig...

Have you made any great new book discoveries?

Unless you're interested in Claire Tomalin's really excellent biography of Samuel Pepys, no. You?

Well, I finally gave up on Fundamentals of Investment Management. On about page 6, I found a typo about "pouring over financial statements" and decided I didn't really want to learn about investment management from people who made such basic errors. I would say this was an anti-good book.

For April's book club, we're doing Eddison's The Worm Ouroboros. I seem to remember it is long, boring, and pointless. I guess this is also an anti-good book.

So it would seem that, except for the Athertons, there are no good books in my immediate future...

Except, of course, for the manuscript of an as-yet-unpublished masterpiece. :-)
