I'm still here
Aug. 11th, 2002 11:57 pmIt's been a while since I've posted anything but private entries. On Friday I totally crashed after too many days of stress and too few hours of sleep. I was supposed to see L that day but I didn't get out of bed until after dinnertime. Now I got some 'splaining to do.
Today was very low key. I slept in (until about 3 p.m.) while S went to a crappy little war down south. We had dinner so he could tell me the details of the c.l.w. and then settled in with disc 2 of LotR:FotR. Call me a goob, but I can't wait for the special edition DVD in November, and then a month later--EEEEEEEEEEEEE! Sometimes I worry that I'll die before all three movies come out, and what a ripoff that would be.
Sunday smells like a movie day. I think we'll try to hit "Signs" and "XXX" at matinee prices, and then perhaps a little motorcycle ride, if I can wheedle S into beating the cobwebs off my bike.
Still no word from K, who is busy being a guest of honor at GenCon. We went together a few years ago, and I'll always remember it (being on vacation with my best friend, not attending GenCon) as one of the highlights of my adult life. Safe House! Mader's!! Zombie: The Shambling!!!
So I've been reading the Barry Hughart trilogy, Bridge of Birds, Story of the Stone, and The Eight Skilled Gentlemen. It turns out that everybody on the planet has read these absolutely wonderful books except me. Thanks, everyone, for keeping them to your selfish selves. Just for that, I'm not going to tell you about the amazing Kai Lung books by Ernest Bramah.*
Highlights of the week to come: We're going to see Kodo on Tuesday, which means I'm going to have to risk videotaping American Idol. I'm soooo worried that we won't do it right and I'll miss the performances. Then Wednesday is another AI result show. Then the club Thursday, which won't be as much fun as usual because You Know Who You Are won't be there. It would sure be keen if the universe would drop a job in my lap at any point during the next week.
