No witty intros, no segues, just what we've been up to lately.

Saturday S and Peev joined the SG paintball party. They say they had a pretty good time, although perhaps S had more fun than Peev, having better luck with his marker. While the boys were raining day-glo death on the heads of their enemies, PMB and #1 Minion and I had a girlie day. Brunch at Stalk Exchange, which is always extremely leisurely because the staff treat every single order as if it's the first one they've ever had. "Coffee! She wants coffee! Where is it? How do we make it? Where are the mugs?" Sheesh. Then to Nordys for makeup shopping. Ever virtuous, I didn't buy anything but encouraged my companions to spend wildly. This is usually my role in outings, that and driving. Then to Value Village, where PMB's humongous velvet skirt shoplifted a pair of children's socks. Really! We found the socks in my car later that night. Then PMB and I relaxed and watched that romantic comedy "The Cell" until it was time to meet our boys at B&O for dinner and, more importantly, dessert. MMMmmmm...fondue.

Sunday was mostly a movie day. We re-watched "A Knight's Tale," "Miss Congeniality," and "Tom Jones" until it was time to leave to see "Spirited Away." It's pretty good, but not quite what we expected from the preview, and it lacks the astonishing beauty of "Princess Mononoke." Still, it is quite imaginative, even if I did sneak a peek at my watch a couple of times...

Last Wednesday I spent the day working at the headquarters for Parker Services, the placement firm I'm working with to find a job. Their receptionist had scheduled a day off but the backup person was sick, so I went in on a day's notice to help out. Of course, the pay rate was at a receptionist level, but all the people were so incredibly nice that I consider it a day well spent. It also gave me a chance to go shopping at FAO Schwartz and Coldwater Creek.

Not much coming up this week. I'm still looking for work and fighting for sleep--nothing new there. It's almost 2 a.m., so I think I'll take some antihistamines and crawl into bed with a Moomin book until the drugs bore my brain to sleep.
